Stratusphere Upgrade & Migration Guidance

Overview

This is for Stratusphere Administrators who need to update their existing Stratusphere software. Based on the current version of software you have installed, recommendations for upgrading are below.

Before upgrading or migrating, we strongly recommend using the Stratusphere Sizing Guide to resize your Stratusphere appliances appropriately to reduce the chance of data loss.

In addition, please review the Release Notes for the version you are moving to for complete details of all feature additions, enhancements, and bug fixes.

How do I find what version I am running?

The current version of Stratusphere UX is displayed in two locations. On the Web UI Login page, it is displayed inside the blue ribbon at the bottom left of the page. It is also displayed on each running Stratusphere UX appliance's local console Status Screen.

How do I determine the best method for upgrading and/or migrating?

  1. Scroll down and locate the version you are currently using.
  2. Click on the version to expand a dropdown to view the recommendations and steps you will need to do.

Supported Versions

Your software is up to date. No further action is required.

The version you are moving to is… Liquidware Recommendations
6.7.1 You have two paths to update your software to 6.7.0.

(1) If you previously upgraded from 6.6.x to 6.7.0, you may have the older version of Postgres running on your appliance. To take advantage of an update in Postgres database software, we require that you use the instructions in the Migration Guide to migrate to the latest 6.7.1 appliances.

-OR-

(2) If you already migrated to or started with 6.7.0 appliances, you are already using the latest supported version of Postgres and may use the instructions in the Upgrade Guide to upgrade to the latest 6.7.1 appliances.

6.7.1 (Preferred) You have one path to update your software to 6.7.1.

To take advantage of an update in Postgres database software, we require that you use the instructions in the Migration Guide to migrate to the latest 6.7.1 appliances.

6.7.0 You have two paths to update your software to 6.7.0.

(1) To take advantage of an update in Postgres database software, we recommend that you use the instructions in the Migration Guide to 6.7.x to migrate to the latest 6.7.0 appliances.

(2) You may use the instructions in the Upgrade Guide 6.6.x and higher to 6.7.x to upgrade to the latest 6.7.0 appliances.

Note: Upgrading from 6.6.x to 6.7.0 will still use Postgres v12, which reached End-of-Life in November of 2024. Please plan to migrate to the new 6.7.0 appliances to be current on Postgres 16 and to have the latest software, security, and system configuration.

(1) To take advantage of an update in Postgres database software, we recommend that you use the instructions in the Migration Guide to 6.7.x to migrate to the latest 6.7.0 appliances.

(2) You may use the instructions in the Upgrade Guide 6.6.x and higher to 6.7.x to upgrade to the latest 6.7.0 appliances.

Note: Upgrading from 6.6.x to 6.7.0 will still use Postgres v12, which reached End-of-Life in November of 2024. Please plan to migrate to the new 6.7.0 appliances to be current on Postgres 16 and to have the latest software, security, and system configuration.
6.6.2 Not recommended. This path is not recommended due to the number of multiple upgrades and migrations that would be required. In addition, Postgres v12, which older version appliances use, reached End-of-Life in November of 2024. Please plan to migrate to the new 6.7.0 appliances to be current on Postgres 16 and to have the latest software, security, and system configuration.

6.7.1
(Preferred)		 You have one path to update your software to 6.7.1.

To take advantage of an update in Postgres database software, we require that you use the instructions in the Migration Guide to migrate to the latest 6.7.1 appliances.

6.7.0 You have two paths to update your software to 6.7.0.

(1) To take advantage of an update in Postgres database software, we recommend that you use the instructions in the Migration Guide to 6.7.x to migrate to the latest 6.7.0 appliances.

(2) You may use the instructions in the Upgrade Guide 6.6.x and higher to 6.7.x to upgrade to the latest 6.7.0 appliances.

6.6.2

Not recommended. This path is not recommended due to the number of multiple upgrades and migrations that would be required. In addition, Postgres v12, which older version appliances use, reached End-of-Life in November of 2024. Please plan to migrate to the new 6.7.0 appliances to be current on Postgres 16 and to have the latest software, security, and system configuration.
6.6.1 Not recommended. This version has reached End of Life for Full Support, thus we do not recommend upgrading to it.
