Updating the ProfileUnity Client
Note: If there are currently FlexApp One packages in the environment that are Engine version 6.8.6 R1 or earlier, and managed by ProfileUnity, an in-place upgrade of the client tools must be performed to ensure continued functionality. Uninstalling the old client tools rather than upgrading them will result in the same problem. If a direct upgrade is not possible, the FlexApp One applications must be re-bundled or migrated to Engine version 6.8.7 prior to installing the 6.8.7 version of client tools. This can be done within the 6.8.7 version of the FlexApp Packaging Console by creating new FlexApp One application packages.
If updates have been made to the ProfileUnity Client since you last installed it, you must update it from the ProfileUnity Management Console. To find information on ProfileUnity Client updates, refer to the ProfileUnity Release Notes in the Liquidware Documentation Repository. To install updates, complete the following steps:
- Login to the ProfileUnity Management Console.
- Hover over your username in the top right corner of the screen.
- In the drop-down menu that appears, click the Administration option.
- On the Settings tab, scroll down to the ProfileUnity Tools section.
- Verify that the Deployment Path is correct. Note that your existing client files should already be in this path. Otherwise, set your Deployment Path in the Management Console as the destination of the client files and select the Overwrite files if they exist checkbox.
- To save these deployment settings, click the Update button in the top right corner of the screen.
- After the deployment settings have been saved, click Download or Deploy Client Tools in the ProfileUnity Tools section.
- Select your platform option. If you are logged into the ProfileUnity Management Console with a domain account that has write permissions to the deployment path, select Domain; if not, select Download.
- Click the Deploy button.
- If you selected Download instead of Domain, you must extract the downloaded ZIP file contents to your deployment path manually.
- The last step is to distribute the ProfileUnity Client to all of the desktops.
- If the Client Tools are installed on your master image, complete the following steps:
- Log in to the master image as an admin.
- Uninstall the ProfileUnity Client from App and features or run
appwiz.cpl. - Confirm that the folder
C:\Program Files\ProfileUnityno longer exists. If it does, delete it. - Navigate to the Deployment Path where the latest Client Tools were deployed in the previous steps.
- Right-click
lwl.profileunity.client.startup.exeand select Run as administrator to install the new ProfileUnity Client version. - Complete your normal master image sealing process, then shut down, take a final snapshot, and deploy it to your pool.
- If the Client Tools are distributed through the computer startup script in the GPO settings, verify that the computer startup script is pointing to
LWL.ProfileUnity.Client.Startup.exe. For information on how to do this, refer to the ProfileUnity Installation & Configuration Guide. New Client software is deployed or updated as each desktop is restarted. Note that this process might take several days if desktops are not rebooted on a regular basis.
- If the Client Tools are installed on your master image, complete the following steps:
