Patch an Existing FlexApp Package

In earlier sections of this guide, we covered how to clone packages and how to extend packages to include more than one application. We can now combine these two concepts to patch applications deployed using ProfileUnity’s FlexApp technology.

To patch an existing FlexApp package, complete the following steps:

  1. From the FlexApp Packaging Console, click the down arrow beside the Edit the package button.
  2. In the drop-down list that appears, click the Clone the package button.
  3. The Clone a Package screen opens.

  4. In the New Package Name field, enter a new name for the copy of the application package.
  5. (Optional) If you are extending the package with an additional application at the same time you are cloning it, in the Installer Location field enter the path or browse to the location of the installer for the application that you are adding to this package.
  6. (Optional) In the text-entry field under the Installer Location field, add any additional parameters for the installer to use as it adds the new application to the package.
  7. Click Clone to start the process.
  8. Click OK to accept the newly patched FlexApp package.
  9. Now you can Extend or Edit the package, install any updates or patches, and Save the newly-updated application.
  10. In the ProfileUnity Management Console, create or modify a FlexApp rule to distribute the patched application to your users. Remove the old package from any FlexApp rules.
  11. Download a new INI configuration file after all configurations have been made.
